I know what you’re thinking, Summer just arrived, you’re ready for everything to slow down.  Vacation and relaxation.  Then, before you know it, it’s time for school again.  Fall comes around quickly, school starts and all the sports and to dos go back on your calendar.  Your family photoshoot doesn’t cross your mind until the leaves start to change at the first sign of Fall.  …And you remember you need a photograph for your holiday cards.

You may not have thought of it this way… but I don’t want your photoshoot to only be about your Holiday card.  It’s about so much more than that!  I want to list a few reasons why summer is THE BEST time to get your family photos done.  This is what I strive to do for my own family as well and have gotten a lot more enjoyment out of our family’s art and investment in photos.

1.  NOT JUST FOR HOLIDAY CARDS:  Your photoshoot shouldn’t just be for your holiday cards.  You’re thinking way too short term.  These images are going to be around for generations.  Let that set in for a minute, I get chills when I think about that.  This is a legacy we are leaving behind for our loved ones and the wall art we will be choosing for our homes.

2. ENJOYMENT YEAR ROUND:  My goal is to create art that you can enjoy through every season.  I personally feel that summer pictures are timeless.  They can easily be enjoyed as wall art all year long and go with every season/ home decor.  You get that nostalgic feeling with the sunlight and vibrant grass and maybe even a beautiful creek.  When you focus on a Fall session, all the colors are gorgeous of course, but I’m thinking more long term for your art.  You have to ask yourself, “will I enjoy having fall colors on my walls all year long?”  “Will those Fall colors look good with every season in my home?”

3. LAID BACK SUMMER SCHEDULES:  The last reason I love summers sessions, is school is out!   Summer just lends perfectly to a laid back summer evening photoshoot.  The kids are relaxed and happy!  We don’t have to coordinate around school schedules and sunset times makes the days so long and perfect for some family time together.  You can even grab ice cream together after as a treat!

Enjoy your summer!
