Today I’m sharing the gear I use.  I use a range of professional and hobbyist gear (like my iPhone) in hopes that you can take better everyday photos of your family as well!

I’m sharing what’s in my professional camera bag, as well as, gear I love for just photographing my family at home with my iPhone!

You don’t have to have fancy equipment to take a great pictures, but you can also have expensive equipment…but still take a bad photo.  So use what you have access to!

My Pro Camera Gear:

5D Mark iii
I’ve been a Canon girl for 10+ years and love this model camera.  It’s fast and I can get the quality images that I want and performs well in low lighting.
Canon 28mm 1.8 lens
This lens is a great travel or storytelling lens.  You can get close to your subject with a wide angle perspective.  It has a very slight wide angle distortion and is very sharp.  I tend to use this when I want to capture more of the surroundings or get really close when photographing kids, as well as landscape images.

A lot of photographers also like the 35mm, which is similar, but no lens distortion.  So that would be a good contender to what you’re looking for as well.
Canon 50mm 1.4 lens
This used to be my main lens when I first started out.  Awesome lens that takes a very realistic picture of what your subject looks like, similar to how you would see it with your own eyes.  It also gives a nice bokeh (blurred background) and makes a great portrait lens.
Canon 85mm 1.8 lens
This lens has a special place in my heart.  You have to be a bit further from your subject with this lens, but let me tell you it has such an artist quality.  The bokeh is so incredible and often gives a circular moment feeling.  I just love it.
