2014 is a new beginning for the food I’d like to make.  One, I’m hoping to focus on eating as close to clean as I can.  Two, I decided that I’m going to master the French macaron…for cheat days of course.  The art of macarons has been intriguing me and I figured it couldn’t be too hard, right?  On New Year’s day, my sister came over to help make macarons.  We went for the basic macaron to start.  I sifted through several recipes on the web and went for this macaron recipe.  To my surprise, the outside tasted great, but I would recommend choosing a different buttercream filling recipe.  This one turned out really buttery and was a long process to cook the egg yolk.  Ugh.  Nobody needs to spend that kind of time when there are other perfectly great buttercream recipes out there.

These two came in to check on us wondering what all the mess was about!  Camera hams!
