There’s something so magical about evenings spent photographing horses in the golden light of the Ohio countryside. As a Galena Ohio equine photographer, sessions like this remind me exactly why I love what I do. This sunset photoshoot just outside of Columbus was pure perfection, the kind that fills your heart and camera roll.

Hannah brought her stunning chestnut horse, Lance, a talented dressage partner and total showstopper, along with her husband and their sweet dog for a full family session at the farm. It was my second time photographing Hannah and Lance, and seeing how their connection has grown over time made this evening extra special.

Capturing the Bond Between Horse and Rider

Hannah and Lance share such a deep, unspoken bond that only true horse lovers understand. Years of training, patience, and love have built a connection that shines through in every image. Photographing horses isn’t always simple, but making the most of every fleeting moment is what makes these sessions so meaningful.

As the sun dipped low behind the trees, I caught quiet moments of Hannah resting her hand on Lance’s neck, soft, sincere gestures that speak volumes without words. These are the photos that truly capture the heart of equine photography.

The evening glow in Galena, Ohio was absolutely breathtaking. The fields shimmered in a warm, honey-toned light that made every frame feel like a painting. Lance’s glossy chestnut coat caught the light perfectly, showing off his graceful movement and powerful build.

We mixed classic portraits with candid moments, Hannah laughing beside her horse, her husband and dog joining in, all coming together to create a gallery that feels genuine, warm, and full of life.
